As many of you already know, I own a business in the Coachella Valley. This means I frequent the area. At the beginning it was a big shock because Coachella Valley is MUCH different than Vegas; this city is far from 24 hours, has a much slower pace, and is seasonal. However, there was one fact that I was excited to learn; Coachella Valley is a haven for those who enjoy outdoor activities! There are many hiking trails around the valley, but one thing they are not short of is golf courses! With over 150 different golf courses, this is a golfers paradise! Then there is me… someone who has never golfed a day in her life. haha I figured if there is a time to learn, it would be now, so I did! My fiance is an avid golfer so him and I went to the driving range, where I learned the basics, and then to a par 54 course, after that I was frequenting par 72 courses and totally obsessed with golfing!
So if you are in the Coachella Valley, golfer or not, check out these courses!
Note: This includes Palm Springs, La Quinta, Indian Wells, and Palm Desert.
2nd Note: This is opinion based! If you think I missed one, send me a message or drop it into the comments below. Also, this list is in no specific order, all of these courses are awesome. Try them for yourselves and enjoy the game!
Located in the beautiful Palm Desert, this course is one of the top options in the area, if not the go-to for visitors and locals alike. It was designed by Arnold Palmer himself and boasts 7,322 yards of lush greenery, gorgeous waters, and well-placed bunkers. Plus, if you are Active Military, Police, Fire, or EMT, you get to play for just $25!
Escena Golf Club
This is another attractive course with tons of greenery surrounded by the dry desert. But that is part of what makes it so pretty and great to play. Here you will find up to 7,173 yds of golf in Palm Springs itself. Additionally, it is a Nicklaus Design, so you know you are getting something special here! On top of that, it’s ranked #6 in all of California by PGATour, which is a huge feat, considering the many courses up north like Pebble Beach. A must-try in the desert!
Indian Wells Golf Resort
And yet another beautiful course right here amidst the brown desert. This course features a huge Clubhouse, a fantastic restaurant properly called “Vue,” and 36 different holes to play. Meaning you can make this a 2-day round, trying out both ends of the spectrum. It has been ranked way up there by a variety of different golf platforms and magazines, as well as me now, so obviously it means you should try it! Lol. No really though, play here, have a drink and a bite to eat ion the evening at the Vue, and enjoy a wonderful getaway!
La Quinta Resort and Club – Mountain or Dunes
This is one of my all-time favorites! It has 5 courses overall, which are some really nice ones to choose from! My favorite course is the Mountain Course though. It features extremely green fairways, that run up along the mountains and creates a wonderful experience. On top of that, this club has 7 different restaurants to choose from as well. Although, I believe that 3 of the courses are located separate from the other two. The Mountain Course and Dunes Course are at one country club, and the other 3 courses are in a different location, a few miles away, so plan accordingly.
Not a golfer?
For those of you who don’t golf, but have a significant other who does, this is a great list for you! Bring them down here to the desert, plan some golf for them, while you enjoy shopping on El Paseo, dining at the restaurants at the courses, or even checking out the spas there as well! It can be a win-win for both of you! If you have any questions about any of these courses or even about anything in the Coachella Valley area, feel free to leave a comment below! Thanks for reading!
